The goal of Kai Earth to create single-use products with new cycles of production, consumption, and disposal. Products that return materials to the earth rather than just extracting them. To do this, all of our products are made from either a byproduct of other processes or materials taken from sustainable growing practices. Learn about the problem and our process below.

Production Process

Working with breweries and bamboo growers in Japan and tapioca farmers in Thailand to sustainably source the material for our products.

Bringing our production materials to ethically run Japanese factories where our cutlery, crockery, and cups are made.

Supplying festivals, street vendors, and picnics with our biocompostable single-use items.

Take em home or just toss em. As our products can act as a source of nutrients for fish or plants, the possibilities for disposal are nearly endless.

Solution to the Plastics Problem

Solution to the Plastics Problem

The US alone produces more than 30 million tons of plastic waste. That’s thirty-million tons of often petroleum-based, non-biodegradable refuse. This means that rather than break down this waste changes form and enters our water, soil, and air as pollutants. Kai Earth’s products try to end this cycle by replacing it with ethically responsible, ecologically friendly and economically feasible production processes.

Solution to the Plastics Problem

Material

Our products are made from a combination of spent barley (a byproduct of the beer brewing process that accounts for up to 85% of all brewery waste), Bamboo, (the fastest growing plant in the world, not to mention one of the least resource hungry), and tapioca (which along with providing the binding agent to our products also provides a source of biofuel through the composting of its peels). This means that all of our products are 100% biocompostable(meaning they decompose quickly and release no toxins into the environment) and can be put to use in growing the very material they use!

Material

Durability, and Quality

Our 100% naturally sourced, biocompostable cutlery, crockery, and cups provide greater durability in comparison to their paper counterparts. This means longer use and less breakage or spilling. Everything holds its shape, even after eating something that would make paper-based products soggy. Our products can also be frozen without worrying about the leaching of toxins, something plastics can’t do.
